I’ve always wanted a place to record and document my projects over time.

I’d hand-crafted my website for a while and, oh well, it got hacked. Along with every other project sitting on that same server. I felt dumb, not because of the classic rookie mistake, but because I’d always thought of that box as the personal “small quick projects” server, so I’d never set up a backup. LOL.

Worth saying out loud, since I’m aware of my own chaotic forgetfulness: that is exactly why professional work gets handled completely differently. Backups, staging, someone checking. Nothing like this has ever happened on a client project, and knowing what I’m like with my own stuff is the reason I’m so very extra careful with everyone else’s.

I think after losing enough personal projects, personal photos and wallets, I’ve grown to not get too attached to things.

So I started vibe coding things for the businesses. Then I saw levels.io bring his blog back the same way, and it was immediately crystal clear: I’m copying this madafaka.

Thanks for everything, Pieter. I read MAKE halfway through my maker journey and you’ve been in my head ever since. 12 startups in 12 months, just getting things done, shipping things I’d had in the cupboard way too long, learning to see the MVP in things, putting money in the S&P 500. Among others, I’m sure.
